Do you need help to manage your debt?

Our Debt Service can provide advice and information to help you take back control of your finances.

This includes:

  • Free, confidential tailored debt advice
  • Budgeting advice
  • Solutions to deal with your debt
  • Negotiate with creditors on your behalf

Our Debt Service is available in each Council area throughout Northern Ireland, and we offer various methods of getting in contact including online and by phone.

In 2022-23, our Debt Service assisted 3,601 clients and dealt with nearly £32.9m of debt.

A client approached Advice NI for debt advice as they had £37.000 in unsecured debt.

Debt Team of the Year Winner

In 2021, our personal and business debt advisers were named Debt Team of the Year in the UK.

The prestigious title was presented by the Institute of Money Advisers (IMA) who praised the local team for its unwavering support for people dealing with debt in Northern Ireland while keeping focus on training and development.

In 2020-2021 Advice NI’s Debt project, funded by Department for Communities, offered support and solutions in 4,000 debt cases totalling over £25 million in business and personal debt.

These leaflets and guides will help you to take the first step in dealing with your debt. They will help you to understand what you can do and what our debt advisors can do to deal with your debt.

They will let you know what your rights are and what action you can take. You can print a copy of these for your information.

If you were a client of Advice NI’s Debt Service and would like to access your file please you can call our helpline 0800 915 4604 or email dataofficer@adviceni.net. Please note if you used the service your file will be securely held for 6 years from the date your case was closed.

After the 6 year period your file will be securely destroyed.
