Só Soy

Só Soy is an independent female founded, home fragrance company based in Ballymoney. We hand pour all our products in store and proudly employee two local team members who support our growing brand. We have a brick and mortar store in Ballymoney where we also host candle making workshops, and we sell online as well as to a select number of independent retailers. Our purpose is to create a little luxury in everyday life through fragrances that make a house feel like a home.

Motivation for Living Wage Accreditation

I was encouraged by Invest NI to take this step and it felt like a natural fit for my business. I genuinely value my team and the work they do, and paying the living wage reflects my belief that they should feel supported, respected and fairly rewarded for the work they do. It's something I'm so proud of and happy to shout about.

Implementation Process

I applied online and found the process very straight forward, I had a call with the Living Wage team a few days after applying.

Additional Workplace Changes

We also were accepted to be a part of the Buy Women Bought group, to celebrate female founded businesses in the UK. Something else we’re proud to shout about.

Challenges and Barriers

We didn’t face any challenges and found the process very easy.

Benefits of Living Wage Accreditation

We’re delighted to be accredited. It’s something to shout about on our social media, and display on our products, and as a consumer myself I’d rather buy from a Living Wage business. It’s also given my staff reassurance that their workplace values them.

"Being paid the real Living Wage has truly changed how I feel day to day. I’m less anxious about bills and more present at home. Hannah choosing to pay the real Living Wage shows how deeply she cares about her team, it makes me feel valued, supported and genuinely proud to work for her.”
