Your role will be to research and review past present and future social policy to maintain quality assurance.

What You'll Be Doing

As a volunteer research and policy, your duties will include:
  • Defining and refining research objectives
  • Designing questionnaires
  • Using an appropriate and creative methodology to design and manage a research project, which may involve the use of quantitative and/or qualitative methods and may include both pilot and development work
  • Applying a variety of research techniques to gather relevant information, including document analysis, surveys, case studies and interviews (face-to-face, telephone and online)
  • Developing and testing theories
  • Conducting information and data retrieval searches using electronic databases
  • Analysing and evaluating research and interpreting data, making sure that key issues are identified
  • Gathering information by directing or carrying out fieldwork
  • Preparing results
  • Presenting and disseminating results, both orally and in writing
  • Preparing and presenting tenders for new research projects
You will also be expected to work co-operatively with all members of staff and adhere to the values, policies, practices and procedures, undertaking training as appropriate to develop skills.

What You'll Need

A volunteer research and social policy requires the following skills/qualifications:
  • Good analytical skills
  • Interest in social research and policy work
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent I.T skills

Training and Support

You will be given the following training and support:
  • Induction to organisation
  • Full training on all aspects of the role
  • Ongoing training and support given as required
  • Regular updates on organisational activities
  • Daily Support, advice and guidance, from Volunteer Coordinator and Manager
  • Quarterly Support and Supervision
  • Coaching and mentoring when required
Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed in line with the charities travel and Expenses policy
