Wiseradviser: Dealing with Rent Arrears (NEW)

This course will focus on the specifics of rental arrears in Private and Social Tenancies and suggest specific strategies to negotiate with arrears in each housing tenure. It will also focus on social landlord pre court protocols and what powers they have to make direct deductions from benefit. Participants must have completed either the Wiseradviser Introduction to Providing Debt Advice Course or the Citizens Advice Adviser ATP training and be able to validate this if required. As this is a NEW Course the course materials are still in development however we anticipate that by the end of the course you will be able to;- (1) Understand the role of an adviser in dealing with rent arrears, (2) Demonstrate knowledge of the recovery methods for rent arrears in the Social Rented Sector in Northern Ireland, (3) Demonstrate knowledge of recovery methods for rent arrears in the Private Rented Sector in Northern Ireland, (4) Have an understanding of court procedures in dealing with rent arrears and (5) Understand the role of the Enforcements of Judgements Office Please note these course objectives are subject to change.
Who Should Attend: 
Wiseradviser courses are appropriate to anyone currently working with vulnerable clients facing financial difficulties.
Fees: 
All Wiseradviser courses are FREE to organisations providing FREE and impartial money and debt advice. To find out if you qualify for FREE training contact: wiseradviser@adviceni.net. However, for accredited courses a £55 charge is applied for those seeking OCNNI accreditation (Note: this is £80 for the Insolvency course, which has 4 modules). Accreditation is currently optional for accredited courses but relevant assessments must be completed for MAS accreditation.
Accreditation: 
There are three levels to Wiseradviser training – Generalist Level (G) (provides basic principles of money advice), Skilled Level (S) (develops skills and knowledge of generalist money advisers), and Specialist Level (SP) (helps advisers deal with more complex cases). Most Wiseradviser courses are accredited with OCNNI at Level 3 or 4 and prepared for the Skillsmark endorsement. Accreditation is optional however, workbooks must be completed for the MAS accredited courses. See individual courses for further details. Learners must meet pre-entry requirements for skilled and specialist Wiseradviser courses. These can be found at www.wiseradviser.org

All attendees MUST book their place online at www.wiseradviser.org and NOT using the Advice NI booking form. A notification e-mail will be sent once a booking request is received. Successful applicants will receive a confirmation e-mail advising them of their course place. Should a place no longer be required it MUST be cancelled via the wiseradviser website (see cancellation policy).
