Wiseradviser: Dealing with Rent Arrears

Advice NI is following COVID-19 guidance and has cancelled face to face training until further notice. This course will now run via the online Zoom platform and will be delivered as a live-online course from 10am-1pm. Access instructions will be sent to you after you sign up. This skilled level course will focus on the specifics of rental arrears in Private and Social Tenancies and suggest specific strategies to negotiate with arrears in each housing tenure. It will also focus on social landlord pre court protocols and what powers they have to make direct deductions from benefit. By the end of the course you will be able to: • Understand the role of an adviser in dealing with rent arrears • Demonstrate knowledge of the recovery methods for rent arrears in the Social Rented Sector in Northern Ireland • Demonstrate knowledge of recovery methods for rent arrears in the Private Rented Sector in Northern Ireland • Have an understanding of court procedures in dealing with rent arrears • Understand the role of the Enforcements of Judgements Office
Who Should Attend: 
Wiseradviser courses are appropriate to anyone currently working with vulnerable clients facing financial difficulties.
Fees: 
All Wiseradviser courses are FREE to organisations providing FREE and impartial money and debt advice. Participants who do not show up on the day, or do not cancel with at least 5 working days' notice, will be charged a fee of £30. If you wish to have OCNNI accreditation which is optional, there will be a £100 charge. Please be advised that if you submit an OCNNI accreditation form you will be invoiced for this amount. Cancellation Policy Booked courses which are cancelled within 5 working days of the course start date will not be invoiced. Booked courses cancelled with less than 5 working days’ notice will be invoiced at a fee of £30 or 50% of the course fee, whichever is higher. Participants booked on FREE training who do not show up on the day, or do not cancel with at least 5 working days’ notice, will be charged a fee of £30.

Education/Professional Framework:
