Wiseradviser: Advanced Mortgage Possessions

Advice NI is following COVID-19 guidance and has cancelled face to face training until further notice. This course will now run via the online Zoom platform and will be delivered as a live-online course from 10am-1pm. Access instructions will be sent to you after you sign up. In this course you will find out the options when possession action has started, what the court take into account and how to handle common proceedings. This course will equip money advisers with the skills and knowledge of the action that they can take to stay an order for eviction. It will outline the mortgage repossession process and the steps that can be taken to avoid court action. Trainees will be able to outline the formal process that lenders need to follow in order to get a possession order and the court application process specific to Northern Ireland. They will also be able to advise clients on the homelessness legislation and intentionality. On completion of this training participants will be able to • Outline the formal process that lenders need to follow in order to get a possession order and the court application process specific to Northern Ireland • Identify action advisers can take if this process has not been followed • Identify defences that can be used to avoid repossession • Advise clients on the process that has to be followed to obtain an eviction order • Understand action that an adviser can take to stay an order for eviction • Advise clients on the homelessness legislation and intentionality
Who Should Attend: 
Wiseradviser courses are appropriate to anyone currently working with vulnerable clients facing financial difficulties.
Fees: 
All Wiseradviser courses are FREE to organisations providing FREE and impartial money and debt advice. Participants who do not show up on the day, or who do not cancel with at least 5 working days' notice will be charged a fee of £30.
CPD Hours: 
This course is worth 4.5 CPD Points under the MaPS CPD Scheme. It is also worth 6 CPD Points under N
Education/Professional Framework: 
Completion of the Introduction to Providing Debt Advice course (or equivalent) is a pre-requisite for this course. They must also have completed the skilled level Understanding Debts and Courts in Northern Ireland Course. They will, therefore, have a good practical understanding of the rules and procedures for dealing with debt including enforcement.
