Live Online: Understanding State Pensions for Advisers

This short and practical overview, delivered live via zoom, will help you understand just how the State Pension actually works now and how Pensions are calculated in this transitional period and learners will receive a high quality PDF information resource in advance. It will cover: • The State Pension, Working Life and National Insurance • How pensions work for couples, single people and those who have experienced bereavement or divorce • Deferring Pensions and working beyond retirement age (and the impact of deferred pensions on benefits) • Retirement planning, tax, savings and private pensions and how they interface with the State Pension • Transitional Measures when a claimant has contributions under both old and new schemes. This course will be delivered live via Zoom.

The course is aimed at advisers, anyone interested in personal retirement planning, financial advisers, HR staff, trade union representatives, lawyers and anyone working with older people.
Members: £20 Voluntary and Community Sector Organisations: £25 Private and Statutory Sector Organisations: £30. We will invoice you for the course. Please note a late cancellation fee will apply to courses cancelled with less than 5 working days’ notice. Cancellation Policy Booked courses which are cancelled within 5 working days of the course start date will not be invoiced. Booked courses cancelled with less than 5 working days’ notice will be invoiced at a fee of £30 or 50% of the course fee, whichever is higher. Participants booked on FREE training who do not show up on the day, or do not cancel with at least 5 working days’ notice, will be charged a fee of £30.

This course can be used as evidence towards a range of units in Advice and Guidance NVQ’s and Legal Advice qualifications including ‘Understanding the Importance of Legislation and Procedures’ (Unit 30). It is also linked to the National Occupational Standards for Legal Advisers including ‘IB19 – First Line Welfare Rights and Legal Advice’.
