Level 3 Certificate in Independent Advocacy - Providing Independent Advocacy to Adults

The Certificate in Independent Advocacy allows Independent Advocates to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment in their Independent Advocacy role. The course includes knowledge and skills based assessments and involves learners demonstrating competency in work related tasks. Assessment is through a portfolio of evidence which includes assignments, work products and observations. This qualification requires learners to complete 5 units listed below, as well as Induction and distance learning. Face to face days will be taught on the following dates; Induction Day: Induction to Qualification - 3rd October 2019 Unit 301: Purpose and Principles of Independent Advocacy - 17th October 2019 Unit 302: Providing Independent Advocacy Support - 14th November 2019 Unit 303: Maintaining the Independent Advocacy Relationship -19th December 2019 Unit 304: Understand the Social Context of Independent Advocacy - 23rd January 2020 Unit 308: Providing Independent Advocacy to Adults - 26th March & 2nd April 2020 Portfolio Day 1: 20th February 2020 Portfolio Day 2: 21st May 2020 Advice NI was funded by DHSSPS to develop this course which was shortlisted for an AONTAS Star Award in 2014. Who Should Attend: 
This course is aimed at those who work as Independent Advocates in either an employed or voluntary capacity. There are no academic requirements to participate, but the individual must be working in an advocacy role and performing tasks relevant to the qualification.
Fees: 
The fees are as follows: Adult and Young People qualification (32 Credits) £1,495 Advocacy Management qualifications (35 Credits) £1,595 Advocacy Management Unit (12 Credits) £595 We will invoice you for the course. Please note a late cancellation fee will apply to courses cancelled with less than 5 working days’ notice. Cancellation Policy Booked courses which are cancelled within 5 working days of the course start date will not be invoiced. Booked courses cancelled with less than 5 working days’ notice will be invoiced at a fee of £30 or 50% of the course fee, whichever is higher. Participants booked on FREE training who do not show up on the day, or do not cancel with at least 5 working days’ notice, will be charged a fee of £30.

The course links to a range of National Occupational Standards including: • HSC367 – Support Individuals to Access independent Representation & Advocacy • IB4/IB5 - First Line Discrimination Legal Advice/Casework • IB21/IB22 – First Line Health and Community Care Legal Advice/Casework. • IB7/IB8 – First Line Mental Health Legal Advice/Casework. • LA1 – Establish Communication with Clients
Accreditation: 
The Level 3 Certificate is accredited by City & Guilds. Successful completion of this course and the required assessments are worth 32 credits at Level 3 on the Qulaifications and Credit framework. It enables candidates to progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Independent Advocacy.
This course gave me a lot more confidence in my practice and introduced me to a network of people I can turn to in a practice dilemma
