Advice NI Money Management Training a Great Success
Make a change in your community - Don’t miss out on this outstanding training
In October 2017 Advice NI began to roll out Money Management training sessions to community groups across Northern Ireland through a project funded by the Department for Communities. The aim of the project is to ensure that ‘money management awareness’ is widely available to those who may find their household incomes reduced because of changes to the benefit system being introduced under Welfare Reform. The course content was informed by Appendix 7 of the Welfare Reform Mitigations Report which outlines the essential areas of financial management knowledge that people will need to prepare them for changes in their household incomes that could come about as a result of Welfare Reform.

The training aims to empower ‘money champions’ in existing networks and community groups to disseminate money management awareness as widely as possible, and to provide a source of information, tools, materials and signposting to the most vulnerable in society as they adapt to the coming changes. An interim evaluation of the training itself demonstrates that participants were satisfied with the course, improved their knowledge and skills in the area, and found the information beneficial for use in their communities. Testimonials include:
  • “Excellent workshop and excellent facilitation.”
  • “Course was brilliant.”
  • “Very useful and engaging training.”
  • “Excellent course, very informative.”
  • “Very useful use of my time, well done!”
  • “Very useful information, many thanks.”
  • “Excellent course really enjoyed it.”
  • “Well worth attending this training.”
  • “Found this very interesting and helpful.”
  • “Really good and informative training.”
  • “Very helpful and informative day. Good to take the information away with me as a reserve.”
These training courses are FREE and are delivered as pre-scheduled sessions in Advice NI headquarters in Belfast, more widely in facilities in the community, and also as bespoke sessions directly delivered to organisations in their own premises. Groups with 15 or more participants can arrange a bespoke session in their premises. Groups are welcome to enquire together and arrange a joint session to meet the minimum participant numbers required.

The training is due to end at the end of April 2018, so we advise swift booking. Contact training@adviceni.net or call 028 9064 5919 for further information.
