Civic Activism Project

Reaching the Hard to Reach: Capturing the Impact of Welfare Reform in Northern Ireland project
Advice NI continues to deliver activities as part of our Civic Activism project, supported by the Building Change Trust (BCT), in order to help capture the impact of Welfare Reform across Northern Ireland.

One aspect of the project is the ‘Digital Fact Checking Tool’. The aim of this tool is to produce a verified, reliable and evidence based online source of advice and information people can trust. Our work to date on this has been to help ‘bust’ common myths and misconceptions around welfare benefits and welfare claimants. Over the coming months we hope to develop the tool by adding more information around fact checking statements made in the media, real life impacts of the changes and common issues citizens are presenting to our services with as Welfare Reform continues to roll out.

Advice NI are keen to continue to encourage citizens to tell us their story. You can get involved and help us by forwarding stories of how welfare reform has and is impacting your clients. You can also encourage citizens to: - Please feel free to contact daniel@adviceni.net or arfawn@adviceni.net if you would like further information on the project or would like us to come out and deliver a Welfare Reform Civic Activism workshop to your service users.
