"Budgeting Help is at hand this Christmas" says Local MLA

Today local MLA Basil McCrea visited newly created offices for Lisburn's Debt Action NI service.

The service provided by Advice NI has helped Lisburn residents manage a running total of £2,810,588.90 of resident's finances from January of this year.

"Debt affects people from all walks of life," stated Mr. McCrea. "In Lisburn it's been found that Debt Action NI's typical client would normally be someone who is currently in employment and a homeowner. "
"However if that person has lost their job or been depending on overtime or extra hours that they have lost access to, they may now need help rebalancing their financial commitments to manage their mortgage and alleviate the stress of maintaining their accommodation."
Money and Debt Advisor Sara Garland added; "Everyone needs a bit of help every once in a while, and so many can be facing a total change of circumstances."
"We can tailor our assistance to whatever a client's needs may be, whether it's rebalancing your budget or handling debt."
"Sometimes just even having the reassurance of planning for these times of year can go a long way to alleviating stress"
The service is based at 52a Bachelors Walk, and is open Monday to Thursday 9.00am until 5.00pm and Friday 9.00am until 4.30pm with two outreach services in Poleglass and Dunmurry. Anyone wishing to access the service can contact Sara Garland or Nuala McCaffery on 028 92607840 or 07578 417 678, or download information from www.debtaction-ni.net
