Advice NI Smash Fundraising Target for Charity of the Year Assisi Animal Sanctuary
Advice NI are delighted to announce they have smashed the £2,000 goal they set for themselves to raise funds for Assisi Animal Sanctuary.
Assisi NI is the largest independent animal charity in Northern Ireland and they’re currently fundraising to replace their current premises which are no longer fit for purpose. Their target is to raise £3 million.
In April, participating teams took part in the 10,000 steps a day challenge and collectively managed to clock up more than 4,000 miles over the course of the month.
All of this activity was the perfect training for staff and volunteers to walk and run the 2019 Belfast City Marathon with more than 15 signing up to take part.
The biggest event of the year was certainly the Advice NI Pub Quiz in September. Thanks to the hard work of volunteers and some incredible raffle prizes, £1,000 was raised in just one evening. As well as some tremendous craic.
As well as the big events, smaller ones helped to add to the total too. The year featured bake sales, clothes collections, a reverse advent calendar and the whole thing was rounded off with a Christmas jumper day.
Advice NI are delighted to reveal that thanks to the team’s efforts, £4,500 has been raised for Assisi – smashing the original £2,000 target.
Advice NI reveal their 2020 charity of the year. Each year at Advice NI, staff vote for a charity to become their charity of the year. Charities put up for consideration are always small, independent and local to Northern Ireland.
The years, staff overwhelmingly voted for The Welcome Organisation, a charity which provides lifesaving services to people affected by homelessness across Belfast.
The organisation runs a drop-in centre 365 days a year, a street outreach programme and crisis accommodation for women, to name just a few of the amazing services they provide.
Once again Advice NI have set themselves a target of £2000 to raise for the year through various fundraising activities.
