Volunteer Week

As volunteer week comes to an end, everyone at Advice NI would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank all our volunteers for their commitment of time, energy, and skill.

Most volunteer as Internet Champions and Digital Inclusion Assistants on the Supporting Active Engagement project. This is a varied and interesting role which always engages and energizes volunteers and older people alike. The role involves teaching older people how to get online and stay there, through the use of tablets.

Through the use of the tablets volunteers encourage older people (our oldest participant has been 96!) to explore the net, with out fear, and without getting bogged down in technical jargon. Some of the activities online pursued by older people have been googling their ancestry, shopping online, and even googling the advances made in dentures.

Our volunteers are the very crux of the project and they literally inspire staff and older people to give 100% to all we do.  So we would like to say a big THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. Our volunteers Rock!
