New Staff Spotlight - Antonia

Name: Antonia Jennings

Job Title: Tax and Benefits Advisor

Where are you From? – I grew up in Northern Ireland but left in my late teens, living in different parts of the globe before returning to Northern Ireland several years ago.

Last Job? – Working as a Welfare Reform Advisor and Tribunal Rep for a former Citizens Advice Bureau.

Why Advice NI? – I enjoy working in the advice sector as it is the area where I have experienced the most job satisfaction, I wanted to work in a role where that continued and where I feel I can do some good in the world, see tangible, positive outcomes for people who need help and someone to advocate on their behalf. Although I felt the need for a change, I wanted to continue working in the advice sector so Advice NI seemed like a natural organization to move to and I was lucky that I was in the right place at the right time to take up my new role.

What’s the best part of your job here? – Well, it’s still early days so all of it seems like the best part – ask me again in a few months.

What do you do in your spare time? – I like travelling, eating out and spending time with family and friends.

Tell us something about yourself we don’t know – I lived in California for a long time, I walked the Belfast marathon, I have recently become a grandparent and since it is the festive season, I make a great egg nog and have a Christmas narwhal on my very untraditional Christmas tree.

What are you looking forward to the most in the next year? – Travelling a little more and spending time getting to know the newest member of the family.
