Advice NI Step Up

Staff at Advice NI put their best feet forward in April and May, all to raise funds for Assisi Animal Sanctuary.

This year the Advice NI Be Inspired Team repeated last year’s step challenge in April. Three teams of staff and advisers took on the challenge of walking at least 10,000 steps every day during the month.

Competition was fierce as staff found themselves comparing everything from fitness trackers and trainers to the best walking routes and ways to up step counts. Come rain or shine, it wasn’t unusual for staff to combine meetings with wearing down the tarmac in Ormeau Park and several people started incorporating walks to and from work into their daily routine.

Collectively, participating teams walked almost 4,000 miles with one energetic person clocking up a cool 200 miles all by themselves.

All that walking set staff and advisers up to take part in the 2019 Belfast City Marathon. More than 15 signed up to take part in the relay, fun-run and walk and everyone who took part finished their challenge.

All that effort certainly paid off. Thanks to the support of staff, family and friends, Advice NI have now raised more than £1500 of our £2000 target for the year – an incredible amount.

Advice NI would like everyone who has supported fundraising efforts so far. Every penny raised will go to Assisi Animal Sanctuary, which rescues more than 2,000 dogs from being put down every year and finds homes for countless more, not to mention caring for cats, rabbits and guinea pigs.

And we haven’t finished yet. Watch this space for more events and sponsorship opportunities. We’re planning a pub quiz in September and hope to see as many people as possible there. Watch this space!
