Advice NI smash target for chosen charity

The Advice NI team are delighted to announce that they have smashed their fundraising target for this year’s chosen charity, PIPS.

Image removed. With the year’s target set at £2,000, staff and volunteers found they had reached and exceeded the amount on November 12 this year – seven weeks earlier than anticipated. The current total raised is £2300 and expected to rise before the end of 2018.
This was certainly a collective effort by the Advice NI team with events that allowed every member to participate no matter their skill level.

In June, Advice NI HQ took to their heels with the 10,000 steps a day challenge. Divided into three teams they collectively walked the equivalent of Belfast to Dublin 40 times. But, in the end it was Sinead’s team – the Fat and the Furious - that pipped the others to the post by plodding a whopping 3,233,791 steps. The team were eager to take to their feet to work off the results of the Advice NI bake sale that also occurred in 2018.

On September 7, Sinéad, Samantha, Robbie and Alasdair took on the Seven Peaks in a Day challenge by scaling the Mourne Mountains. On the same day seven more Advice NI staff took on Northern Ireland’s highest mountain, Slieve Donard, climbing more than 850 metres for the worthy cause.

PIPS charity delivers suicide prevention, bereavement support services, counselling and therapies across Belfast and throughout Northern Ireland. PIPS receives no central funding which in turn means there are no restrictions or conditions on their services. They are currently operating with two full-time and three part-time staff members and over 70 volunteers and therefore keen to increase awareness and raise vital funds to continue to deliver life-saving work.  They operate a walk in service, no appointment needed, open Mon, Wed & Fri 9am – 9pm; Tues & Thurs 9-5pm; Sat & Sun 2-6pm.

The PIPS support line is 0800 088 6042.
