Advice NI in partnership with MCNI continues to offer EUSS advice

Advice NI in partnership with MCNI continues to offer EUSS advice to EU nationals and their family members and family members of NI relevant persons.

The following is an example of cases that we have been advising and supporting through the EUSS project.

A Case Study

A non-EEA client arrived in the UK under the UK immigration rules as a spouse of British/Irish national. Her spouse visa had expired and became an overstayer before approaching us. Her abusive and controlling husband told her that he would support her to apply for Irish citizenship in 2021 and convinced her not to take any other action to regulate her immigration status. As a result of domestic violence, our client had to leave her family home without any evidence required to support her future immigration application, she was also served with a Notice of Deportation.

Our specialist immigration adviser provided immigration advice and support and worked closely with various agencies in order to gather the necessary evidence required for client’s immigration application under Domestic Violence provisions.

Our client was also supported to gather evidence for her ‘Statement of Reasons’ included on her reply to the One Stop Notice  to support her case not to be deported and allowed to stay in the UK.

We offered free, confidential immigration advice and support to secure her immigration status in the UK and help to access specialist support services for victims of domestic abuse.
