Introduction to Tax Credits
Tax Credits were introduced in April 2003 and are administered by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
There are two Tax Credits offering financial support; Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit.

Advice NI has also produced an online guide to other credits and benefits delivered by HMRC
In 2005 Advice NI ran an econsultation on Tax Credit Overpayments which resulted in Advice NI being invited to give parliamentary evidence to the UK Treasury sub-committee in the House of Commons in London.
