New Debt Advice Website
Advice NI launches its new Debt Action NI website – free debt help you can trust!
Aimed at helping those most financially vulnerable in Northern Ireland, the Debt Action NI website, is jointly funded by Department of Enterprise, Trade & Investment and Ulster Bank and is coordinated by Advice NI. The purpose of the website is to empower people to become more financially capable by taking control of their own finances.
The website hosts a series of self help fact sheets and leaflets which will give members of the public an insight into, for example, How to Budget and What is Bankruptcy? A Frequently Asked Questions section provides answers to the most common money/debt advice queries. These sections of the website will give people a greater understanding of the options available and what the best route for them in controlling their finances might be.
The Debt Action NI website also offers an invaluable service in the shape of a Debt help request form, which enables members of the public to fill in a simple form and once submitted an advisor will call them back to offer free debt advice. Users can also click on the Debt Help tab which will provide them with a complete list of money advisor across NI.
Debt Action NI advisors provide money/debt advice throughout NI. This is a free, confidential and impartial service open to everyone. It currently delivers 600 hours of debt advice which equates to 16 full-time advisors, in 13 council areas throughout Northern Ireland. Advisors offer face to face appointments and home visits to those who are most vulnerable.
The Debt Action NI service has already dealt with over £9 million of debt since its launch in November. The service has provided real help for the public at a time of financial uncertainty. Debt Action has been received well and the feedback from members of the public is very encouraging, Advice NI believes it is on the right path to helping those most financially vulnerable and believes the website will help to tackle the debt problem in Northern Ireland.
