Highly Commended

The E-Quals programme aims to cut carbon emissions by offering alternatives to excessive travel to advisers undertaking an NVQ in advice and guidance through our online learning programme. Advice NI designed this training to help advisers working in disadvantaged communities across Northern Ireland tackle the growing issues of fuel poverty as more and more people are finding it difficult to pay their energy bills.
As 1 of the 21 finalists across 8 categories, Advice NI was invited to a gala dinner, recently held in Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, in London.

The judges felt that although there were no clear winners in this category that all the projects were worthy of commendation and Advice NI was Highly Commended along with the other two finalists in the category.

"We would like to congratulate Advice NI on making it to the final of the 2008 National eWell-Being Awards," said Richard Craven of SustainIT who run the awards. "We were overwhelmed by the quality of entries received this year and competition has been very strong."

Bob Stronge, Director from Advice NI commented, "Advice NI is delighted to be highly commended for this prestigious award. Development of this e-learning project has saved participants traveling 4,529 miles equating to 203 hours travel time and £1,811.60 in fuel costs. It has helped reduce the carbon footprint and as more people get involved it will have a more significant impact on environmental efficiency."
