Advice NI and Citizens Advice recently presented the Wiseradviser money advice training programme for 2008.
In launching the training programme Advice NI and Citizens Advice are pleased to consolidate a key partnership for the provision of money advice training to the advice sector in Northern Ireland.
The training programme aims to equip advisers within the voluntary, private and public sectors with the skills and knowledge required to assist people who may be experiencing financial difficulties.
The wiseradviser programme is funded by the Money Advice Trust, and supported by Ulster Bank to provide training to advisers who work in the field of Money Advice. Courses will be offered at generalist, skilled and specialist levels during the period from January to December 2008. The training covers all areas of dealing with debt including Debts and Courts in Northern Ireland, Bankruptcy, Lay Advocacy Skills and Mortgage Possession.
In addition the event will celebrate participants who have successfully completed wiseradviser accredited programmes by presenting them with Open College Network Northern Ireland (OCNNI) certificates as recognition of their achievement.
Speaking at the launch Ian Witcombe, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Money Advice Trust, said,
“ Demand for free quality money advice is at a high; the high quality of training offered by Citizens Advice Northern Ireland and Advice NI, makes a real difference to the quality of support which money advisers can give to their clients during these difficult times.
We are delighted that partnership work has produced the wiseradviser training programme for 2008 and as new areas for training develop, such as Mental Health awareness, we look forward to further collaborative work to meet the needs of money advisers, and beyond them - people with unmanageable debt.”
